"Mailbox & Fire Hydrant"


- Dept 56 Christmas In The City "Mailbox & Fire Hydrant" USPS RWB Item #55174 issued in 1989 and retired in 1990. Mint condition piece in original box & sleeve. US Post Office collors of red, white and blue mailbox features "US Mail" sign and eagle logo. Apparently the US Post Office got a little bent out of shape when Dept. 56 used their colors, name and eagle logo. Following a lawsuit, production was discontinued. It was replaced the next year by the HV green and red mailbox. The dog in the picture is actually part of another set called "One Man Band & Dancing Dog" which is sold separately.
