- "Tapping The Maples" Dept. 56 New England Village set of 7, Item #56599. Introduced 1997 and retired 2001. Mint condition piece in original box & sleeve. Taught by the Native Americans, early colonists learned to tap maple trees for the precious, sweet, syrupy treat. This set shows all the different phases of tapping and collecting the sap.
