- "Desert Camp" Dept. 56 Little Town Of Bethlehem Set of 4, Item #59904. Introduced 2000 and retired 2003. This set of 4 includes the tent, tree & campfire piece as well as the women carrying water and 2 men discussing business. Israelites have been a semi-nomadic tent-dwelling people throughout their history. Traveling from place to place in search of pastureland, they may have remained in one area for days, weeks or even an entire season before moving their camp and herds. Today, the Bedouin who roam the desert lands of Israel live much the same lifestyle as did the Biblical Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Tents made of goat or camel hair and clothing designed to protect them from the desert heat have changed very little over the centuries. Mint condition piece in original box & sleeve. Size: 8.75" x 7.5"
