- "Tower Of David" Dept. 56 Little Town Of Bethlehem set of 3, Item #59810. Introduced 2002 and retired 2004. Includes: 2 piece accessory "Tower Guard & Garden Archway". Mint condition piece in original box & sleeve. Also known as the Citadel, the "Tower of David" is a minaret built upon the foundation of the Mariamme Tower, one of three towers that was connected to King Herod's Palace. Since Roman governors resided in the palace (in this case Pontius Pilate), it is the most likely site of Jesus' Trial. The Romans preserved the original tower when they razed the city in AD 70. Size: 6.75" x 7.5" x 10.5", 5" x 3.5", 2" x 1.5" x 4.75".
