"The Honeymooner Motel"
- "The Honeymooner Motel" Dept. 56 Snow Village Item #54011. Introduced 1991 and retired 1993. A moon and stars sign above the office door is an advertisement for the motel. Motel is a white building with blue awning and doors. There's a soda and ice machine by the office door. Middle class auto travelers were attracted to stay-over facilities that provided the privacy and luxury offered by Mom & Pop enterprises. By the 1940's there were motels coast to coast. The word MOTEL is a derivative of two words, motor and hotel that came about at the beginning of coast to coast auto travel in the early 30's. Mint condition piece in original box & sleeve. Size: 10" x 5" x 6.5"
